My twin is a Hispanic mother.

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

If you watch the Bachelorette, you know Roberto.

If you watched last night, you met Roberto’s mom.

If you’ve seen Roberto’s mom, you have met my twin.

I mean, truly. Look at this.

That pretty much looks like my face. Bi-za-rro.

Also. Forgive me, my hair is dirty and it was 10:45pm, so I’m not looking my freshest.

So we grabbed an iPhone that records video. [Because I didn't have my flipcam. WHY OH WHY did I not have my flipcam!??] Hence the less than awesome quality. I am so so sorry. More than you know.

We attempted to show you the similarities but I have never. no not ever. gotten so giggly while trying to make a video. We were laughing. So very much.

Enjoy.

Part A: I’m 30.

Thank you for all your sweet words on my birthday last week. I can’t wait to tell you all about the party my dear friends threw for me. It blew me away. For realz. Here’s a teaser to whet your appetite.

I mean, are you dying or are you dying?!? How gorgeous is that? And not only do I have beautiful memories of Wednesday night, but equally beautiful photographs thanks to my dear buddy Skip Hopkins.

[I'm going to show you more, I promise. But I'm still having to narrow down from the 150 pictures sweet Skip edited and gave me on Thursday.]

[Also, I'm still just loving looking at them. So that's slowing the process down significantly.]

Part B: I’m the next Food Network Star

That may be the grossest exaggeration I have made on this blog all day in a long time.

But I did have an amazing opportunity last week to film a cooking segment on WSMV, the channel that hosted the Get Fit Challenge.

Here’s the link to video of the fruit parfait.

Now listen, I don’t care how many times I’ve practiced having my own cooking show in my kitchen, I’m still no pro. So forgive my amateurness. Cause it’s there.

And, I made a mess RIGHT after I said, “I don’t like to make a mess.”

[welcome to my life.]

And you better watch because seriously, this may be my only 4:45 minutes of cooking fame.

Part C: Amber + Ash

Ok, y’all know Amber- she’s my personal stylist a famous stylist here in Nash and she has become a friend that I insist on speaking to, in some capacity, every single day.

Well, brainiac Amber and her equally talented friend Ash, who is an interior designer, came up with this wicked idea.

Amber picks an outfit- Ash creates a room to match it. AND. Ash picks a room- Amber creates an outfit to match it.

Here are the two blog posts to prove it -

Outfit –> Room AND Room –> Outfit

You’re gonna love. I bet. Cause it’s one of the coolest ideas out there right now.

D. World Cup

I’m sad it’s over. It was a good one, that’s for sure. But the final game- sheesh. What it lacked in beautiful play it made up for in penalties. Yowsa. And I guess I’m fine with Spain winning. Whatevs.

E. Naked Windows

My home is full of naked windows. Help me! I want to do cheap and cute window treatments. I’ve already fully perused The Nester and The Inspired Room [2 of my friends and cohorts over at (in)courage], but I have lots of windows. So please. Help a sister out and send me links to some of your favorite window treatments online.

F. Is my middle initial.

That’s all. See y’all tomorrow.

30 years of beautiful things.

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Today is my 30th birthday.

Above all else, I’m celebrating 30 years of God doing beautiful things.

So I thought that I’d let Gungor sing to us for my birthday.

I heart this song. Mucho.

[Gonna take a little bloggy break through the weekend. See y'all Monday!]

My Mocha Club desk.

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

I don’t know if this is a new series I’m starting or if I’m just completely weird, but ever since I wrote about my writing table a few weeks ago, I’ve wanted to show you my desk at Mocha Club as well.

1. The desk itself- a folding table. Impressivo, eh? But listen, in the economy we live in, I’m just thrilled to have a job that I absolutely love. So if they said, “hey, sit here under the sink and work” I’d probably say okay. Or, I’d say, “that’s kinda weird- can I just sit on the floor of the conference room?”

2. Me old laptoppy. I have a goal to purchase a new one in 2011. Since, you know, I’ve had this one for over 3 years and it has my paw prints all over it and about as much memory as a nursing home bingo player.

3.  Paper cup. I left my water bottle at home today and barf. I’m having to drink out of one of those cups that gets soggy and squishy and waxy.

4. A super cool painting that my sister Sally did. It’s Africa. [Since I work at Mocha Club and all, I found it to be apropos.] I stole it from her bedroom at home. Sorry bout it.

5. A cool book from my friend Ishita who runs the Fear.Less online magazine. I read a bit of this book everyday.

6. Sticky notes. Because they are cute and funny. [I just wrote that and then realized that I have no idea what makes sticky notes funny, but I wrote it. So. Maybe it's true.]

7. A picture with some of my very bestest friends when we were in Chicago last August. It was one of the greatest trips I’ve taken- full of laughs and relaxation and all around awesome.

8. A little motivation from my friend Seth Godin. I promise it doesn’t mean what you think it does. It’s symbolic and it means a whole lot more.

9. My accountability group. They are always watching. So I better behave.

10. Piles. Because, as you know, I am a big fan of piles.

Hey- if you get the hankering to photograph a table/desk/counter top and label it and tell us about it on your blog, link to it in the comments. I think seeing your world would be pretty fascinating.

Amen.
